Mile 19.5: Top of Willis Ave Bridge. Live-illustrating the New York City Marathon
“You send me a fiver (plus postage) and I’ll send you a vintage postcard with a little drawing and an offensive message on it. (that’s why it’s called ‘Hate mail’). So you get an original signed drawing, the postman get’s a laugh and the world get’s a little bit happier.”
for some reason this little note about sending cash plus postage brought me back to avocado baby’s song “letter from stephen drennan,” which is sadly missing from the internet. when i left portland, i finally reunited joseph with his lp of that album (i had borrowed it probably ten years earlier), and only now discover i have no means to have a proper nostalgic moment. but it’s probably appropriate it’s not here. i may somewhere still have a cassette copy; i think that was the reason i borrowed it in the first place.
